MAJOR CONTRACT PARTNERS

In 1987, Airlines PNG was awarded a long term contract by Chevron Niugini Limited to provide aviation support services for their Kutubu oilfield project and we are proud to state that Chevron’s is still one of our largest Corporate clients. It was in October 2003, that Chevron Niugini handed over the operation of its core assets in Petroleum Mining and Operations to the new owners and long time residents in the PNG resource sector, Oil Search Limited (OSL). Airlines PNG is proud to remain an Aviation and Corporate partner of OSL and will continue to strive to provide the most practical and efficient solutions to meet the client’s needs.

Also in 2003, Airlines PNG (and its sub-contracting partners providing rotor wing operations, Heli Niugini) were successful in a tender bid for the aviation contract for the giant Porgera Mine project in the Engan Province of PNG. The contract called for the supply of Dash 8 and Twin Otter fixed wing aircraft plus helicopters. The contract commenced in August, 2003 and in 2006 was revised to replace the rotor wing operations with an additional Twin Otter aircraft provided by Airlines PNG. This successful Aviation partnership with the Porgera Joint venture (PJV) in the operation of the Porgera Mine continues to this day.

In 2007, Airlines PNG successfully tendered to Lihir Gold Limited to provide daily international services between Cairns Australia and Lihir Island in the New Ireland Province of PNG. The two-year contract involves quite unique Dash 8 services in that the normal 37 seat configuration of the aircraft has been replaced with 12 large, comfortable Boeing 767 Business Class seats. That seating, combined with the In-Flight Entertainment available only on Airlines PNG’s Dash 8-100 series aircraft is a prime example of how Airlines PNG will work to ensure that clients’ particular needs are met.

Early in 2008, Airlines PNG was again successful – this time in securing a three-year contract with Morobe Consolidated Goldfields Ltd and Wafi Mining Limited, subsidiaries of the mining giant, Harmony Gold to provide air charter services for the significant gold, copper and silver mining developments in Hidden Valley and Wafi. Airlines PNG assisted Harmony in the development of Bulolo airstrip to enable the larger Dash 8 aircraft to operate fly-in/fly-out operations for the mines’ management and operational personnel.

Contracts secured in 2009 -

* June 2009 Airlines PNG was successful in securing a second contract with Lihir Gold utilising the Dash 8 aircraft to provide domestic passengers services 4 days a week providing much need additional capacity into the mine.

* June 2009, Airlines PNG further extended its contract portfolio when securing a three year contract with Simberi Gold Company utilising one (1) Dash 8 full time providing passenger and cargo services to the mine site. The aircraft also provides much needed medivac support whilst positioned at the mine.

* June 2009, Airlines PNG secured a 12 month contract with the Australian Government (Ausaid) to provide flight services utilising the Twin Otter aircraft between Port Moresby and the out ports of the Kokoda region.
